Topps' product page says the 2026 release pairs current stars and rookies with Heritage staples like League Leaders, Real One Autographs, image variations and Chrome autograph variations. It also introduces football-specific insert hooks tied to the 1976 season.
The catch is timing. Topps has confirmed the preorder window and previewed the chase structure, but final pricing, product formats, pack counts, purchase limits, full checklist and odds still need to show up when the live buying page opens.
The Heritage return is bigger than another preorder slot
Heritage is more familiar to baseball collectors than football collectors, which is why this drop stands out on a busy Topps calendar. Checklist Insider notes that the football version was last issued for the 2015 NFL season, and Yahoo's SI Collectibles coverage frames the 2026 return as part of the new Fanatics-Topps NFL card era.

The 1976 design shapes the whole chase
Topps says 2026 Heritage Football is inspired by 1976 Topps Football, with a new base set for today's stars and rookies. The company also lists Base Cards Image Variations for top veterans and rookies, which gives player collectors a reason to look beyond the base checklist.
The insert lineup leans into the same throwback frame. All-Pro Series is based on the 24-card 1976 Wonder Bread Football set and uses 24 All-Pro standouts from the 2025 NFL season. The Expansion centers on the 28-team NFL lineup from 1976, when the Seattle Seahawks and Tampa Bay Buccaneers joined the league.
Those details matter for breaks because Heritage products can spread value across short prints, variations, inserts and autograph subsets instead of one obvious modern hit chase. A PYT break built around rookie quarterbacks may read differently from a set-builder box rip or a player-collector chase.
Autographs and relics are confirmed, but the checklist is not
Topps previews Base Card Chrome Autograph Variations, Real One Autographs and Locker Room Autograph Relics. Checklist Insider also points to Heritage Rookie Autographs with Gold parallels numbered to 50.
That is enough to define the kind of product Heritage Football wants to be. It is not enough to price a spot, pick a team or call a box a good buy. Topps has not yet published the full autograph subjects, relic subjects, serial-numbered parallel map, product configurations or official odds sheet.
The safer read is to treat the 1 p.m. preorder as the real data drop. If Topps posts a single hobby format, the buying math is different from a lineup with multiple box types, online exclusives or format-specific chases.
