Pokemon's August 2026 TCG calendar now has six Mega Evolution tin choices in view, split between the Mega Evolution: Ascended Heroes Tin and the Mega Forces Tin that launched on August 28.
The official August product roundup lists the Ascended Heroes Tin with Mega Meganium ex, Mega Emboar ex or Mega Feraligatr ex, each with four booster packs from the special Mega Evolution: Ascended Heroes expansion. Pokemon's separate Mega Forces product-gallery page adds another August 28 tin line built around Mega Dragonite ex, Mega Darkrai ex or Mega Zeraora ex, each with one foil promo, four Pokemon TCG booster packs and a code card for Pokemon TCG Live.
That changes the buyer check from "Do I want the August tin?" to "Which tin line am I actually buying?" One product gives a fixed Ascended Heroes pack lane. The other gives a Mega Forces promo choice with a broader four-pack booster mix. For sealed collectors, breakers and casual rippers, those are not the same decision.
The six tins do different jobs

The practical difference is simple. If a buyer wants Ascended Heroes packs, the Ascended Heroes Tin has the clearer pack promise. If a buyer wants the Dragonite, Darkrai or Zeraora promo, Mega Forces is the line to inspect first.
Cardlines put Dragonite and Darkrai at the top of the buyer list
Cardlines ranked the six August tins on September 4 and put Mega Dragonite ex first, Mega Darkrai ex second and Mega Feraligatr ex third. The ranking leaned on promo appeal, pack selection, collectibility and overall buyer fit rather than treating every tin as interchangeable.
That outside ranking is useful because the official Pokemon pages answer the contents question, not the preference question. Pokemon tells buyers what is in the tin. A collector still has to decide whether the visible promo, pack mix, sealed condition and retailer listing match the reason they are buying.
The biggest trap is assuming the character choice is cosmetic. It is not. For some collectors, Dragonite or Darkrai is the card. For others, four Ascended Heroes packs matter more than the face on the tin.
30th Celebration keeps pulling attention forward
The August products are not landing in a quiet Pokemon window. Pokemon's main TCG account posted 30th Celebration previews this week, showing Slowpoke and Galarian Meowth from the expansion, and Play Pokemon opened Pokemon Worlds activity on Friday.
Those signals do not change the official August product contents, but they explain why collector attention keeps jumping from current shelves to September. Pokemon Center's preorder support page lists the 30th Celebration Pokemon Center Elite Trainer Box with a mid-September estimated ship date, and Rip Report's earlier coverage found the Pokemon Center ETB page already showing unavailable with a two-per-customer limit.
The clean takeaway: do not blur the calendars. The August 28 tins are the current shelf decision. 30th Celebration is the September watch item. Worlds and social previews are demand signals, not replacements for product pages.
What collectors should check before buying
Before buying any August tin, check which product line the retailer is selling, whether the listing is for a specific tin or an assortment, which featured Pokemon is shown, how many packs are included, shipping timing, return policy and whether sealed condition matters to you.
Before chasing 30th Celebration, check Pokemon Center's preorder support page and the product page itself. The estimated ship date is not the same thing as release-day inventory, and an unavailable Pokemon Center ETB does not prove every other 30th Celebration product will be unavailable.
For breakers, the distinction is even sharper. A four-pack tin can work as a small add-on rip. A bundled 30th Celebration ETB or collection product changes spot math, per-pack cost and allocation planning. The product page decides the format.
