Sports Collectors Daily reported that the winning bid reached $2,335,000 before buyer's premium and that the card drew 30 bids. Auction Report also listed the same $2,848,700 final price and said the Ohtani redemption led Goldin's latest auction results.
For collectors, the important detail is that this was still a redemption. The buyer was not paying for the fulfilled card in hand. The price shows how much the high end is willing to pay for Ohtani, a true 1/1, an autograph, and a game-worn gold MLB logo patch tied to his 2025 National League MVP season.
Why a redemption still reached seven figures
The redemption is for a one-of-one 2026 Topps Chrome Gold MLB Logoman Autograph Relics card. Sports Collectors Daily described the finished card as an Ohtani autograph paired with a gold MLB logo patch from a uniform worn after he won the 2025 NL MVP award.
